Planning

After discussing in my group what song we were going to choose for our video, we decided to use the cover version of 'You've Got the Love' performed by Florence and the Machine, originally created by Candi Staton. The reason why we chose this particular song was because Florence is an up to date new performer, but by using a well recognised older song, she has made it her own style and used her quirky style to make the song different from any other recording done previously. This song also gives us the opportunity to create a narrative behind the lyrics, and to produce more of a story, instead of having someone mouthing the lyrics to the camera, as many videos do. Song Lyrics: 'You've Got the Love'

Below are the song lyrics for the Florence and the Machine cover of 'You've Got the Love'. The The theme behind the song is of upliftment and empowerment. Lyrically being about an unfailing love for us all, even though we regularly fail ourselves: "Lord I just don't care but you've got the love to see me through". However, we have chosen to base the idea of the lyrics around a different theme, and are planning on using the lyrics to represent friendship and how after a tough day, friends are the people we choose and who can help us get through the bad times and forget about the day and to just have fun and relax. We rely on our friends to lift our spirits.

Lyrics

Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air,
I know I can count on you,
Sometimes I feel like saying "Lord I just don't care"
But you've got the love I need To see me through,

Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough
And things go wrong no matter what I do
Now and then it seems that life is just too much,
But you've got the love I need to see me through

When food is gone you are my daily meal
When friends are gone I know my savior's love is real
Your love is real,

You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

Time after time I think "Oh Lord what's the use?"
Time after time I think it's just no good
Sooner or later in life, the things you love you loose
But you got the love I need to see me through

You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air
I know I can count on you
Sometimes I feel like saying "Lord I just don't care"
But you've got the love I need to see me through

You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

This is the Florence and the machine album cover, and

after planning and story boarding our music video, the song we have chosen 'You've Got the Love' has recently been released. However, before this was released we had already decided exactly what we wanted to do and the themes and ideas behind our video had been established. Therefore, we have not been influenced by the actual video in any way.
